IMPORT-EXPORT CONTAINER TRANSPORTATION

Containers have replaced traditional stowage methods in maritime transport. Today, most of the shipments, other than bulk cargo, are made by container and are increasingly preferred. Transportation of cargoes is becoming widespread worldwide and almost all products are transported in containers.

CONTAINER TYPES

Standard Container, General purpose container, (Dry van) 20´ DC / 40´ DC container:

These containers are general purpose containers. There are also 45 'and 54' lengths, but use of this size container is very rare.
It has two doors, only one can be opened outward. Water and air-tight when the container door is closed. The material used in container manufacturing is selected by considering both the carrying capacity and the volume. Usually steel and aluminum are used. Steel containers have less loading capacity because steel is heavier.

It is used for the transportation of goods with a high volume that cannot be loaded in 40´ DC container in terms of dimensions and height rather than weight. Their height is 30 cm more than the normal 40´ container. It is used for the transportation of all kinds of dry cargo, light and bulky loads and gauge loads up to 2.7m in height.

Open Top & Open side Container 20´ Open Top / 40´ Openable Container:

Unlike standard containers, the ceiling is a completely open container type. At the end of the goods loading, the ceiling is covered with a tarpaulin. There are 2 types of 20 'and 40' long. It is used for gauge loads that do not fit in the container door. In addition, since there are no loads or loading ramps that need to be handled with crane-like equipment, this type of container can be preferred in companies that cannot load on forklifts and general purpose containers. General purpose containers have the same length and width dimensions, but the upper height cannot be mentioned since the ceiling is open.Generally, monolithic machines, large size marble slabs, aluminum profiles and similar sized products are carried. It can also be used in cargoes with overflow, in this case, the overflow is reported to the carrier. Its base is slightly thicker than it is often used in heavy cargo transportation, and surcharge is often added to the freight as it falls into the special equipment class.

It is briefly called flat. Their types consisting of a base platform and two end walls are called “collapsible end”. Types with only boundary bars on all four sides are called freestanding posts, meaning basically there are 2 different types of flat containers, each 20ft and 40ft long. It is generally produced in 20 'and 40' dimensions. Areas of application are heavy tonnage loads, high or wide overflow loads, so the floor thickness is high. From time to time, a platform is created from two or more flatrack containers to transport high volume break bulk cargoes. Due to the special equipment, the transportation cost is high, a lot of surcharge can be added to the freight.
